Transition from Year 6 to Year 7

Despite the current lockdown, time seems to be moving very quickly and I'm sure you're all thinking about your child's upcoming transition to The Skipton Academy. These are our current thoughts regarding transition and possible plans for July.

As I'm sure you're aware, the situation regarding students returning to school is still quite changeable and so it is quite difficult to make plans for too far into the future. At present, we are busy planning the return of our Year 10 students. Once they are settled back into school, we will be looking in detail at how we can welcome all of our incoming Year 6 -7 students for transition visits before the end of the summer term.  Please rest assured that there will definitely be invitations for all of the young people who will be joining us in September to come and visit the school, so that they can spend some time in school and meet key members of staff.

Before half term, we emailed a number of transition documents to each of our Year 6 colleagues, including a link to our virtual tour of the school. ( )

I'm sure the teachers will share these documents with you and your children over the following weeks as part of their work to prepare the children for the transition.

In the meantime, If your child has any additional needs or you are particularly concerned about how they may cope with the transition, please do get in touch with us so that we can arrange some additional support during the remainder of this term.

Mrs Dudley will be in touch once our Year 10s have returned to school with further updates as to what the transition visits will look like. Please don't hesitate to contact us should you have any questions in the meantime.
