Nurturing Young Creativity

Creativity knows no bounds, and when it comes to young minds, it flourishes with boundless energy and imagination. Through the Associate Schools Programme and the Playmaking Festivals, The Skipton Academy empowers its students to explore Shakespeare's texts as actors do, providing them with an extraordinary platform to showcase their talents on renowned stages.

The Associate Schools Programme and Playmaking Festivals:

TSA's commitment to nurturing creativity led them to embrace the Associate Schools Programme, where young minds from all corners of the country come together to create stunning performances. These Playmaking Festivals, held in theatres across the nation and even in the illustrious town of Stratford-upon-Avon, serve as a testament to TSA's dedication to the arts. By encouraging students and teachers to approach Shakespeare's texts collaboratively, TSA embraces the notion that understanding and interpretation are essential components of creating compelling performances.

The experience was nothing short of fantastic, leaving an everlasting impact on the young performers.

On another extraordinary occasion, 9 students ranging from year 7 to year 10 took part in a performance of 'Twelfth Night' alongside five other Bradford schools at the Alhambra Studios. This collaboration showcased the power of unity and the ability of young talents to inspire and enchant their audiences.

Marking the 400th Anniversary of Shakespeare's First Folio:

In the spirit of commemorating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's First Folio, Felicity Williamson's masterpiece, 'Abandoned,' was selected for the esteemed 37 Plays, and it will grace the stage at the Alhambra Theatre in October. Meanwhile, a gifted year 11 student, Evan Mody secured a coveted place in the RSC's 'Next Generation' group.
