Art Students Showcase Creativity Mastery
This year has been an outstanding one for The Skipton Academy’s KS3 and KS4 Art students, who have excelled in both creativity and discipline, producing impressive work across a range of projects.
In recent months, Year 10 students completed two sustained ten-hour pieces, demonstrating a wide breadth of skills and techniques. These long projects highlighted not only their technical ability but also the perseverance and commitment needed to excel in the GCSE Art course.
Meanwhile, Year 9 students have been exploring sculpture, making full use of the kiln and clay materials to create imaginative “clay monsters.” Inspired by the work of James De Rosso and the school’s Sea Creatures project, these creations helped develop a deeper sculptural understanding. Many students have chosen GCSE Art as one of their pathways, and this project has provided them with a strong foundation ahead of the demanding two-year course.
For others, Challenge and Celebration Week marked their final Art lesson of the year - an opportunity to complete a last piece in style and reflect on the journey so far.
Across all groups, the students’ work has been characterised by creativity, discipline, and enthusiasm. From sustained observational studies to experimental clay projects, the Art department has provided opportunities for learners to grow in skill and confidence, producing work they can be truly proud of.
