Artistic Excellence on Display
The Art Department at The Skipton Academy continues to be a dynamic hub of creativity, innovation, and self-expression. This term, students have brought their artistic visions to life through both curriculum projects and extracurricular competitions. From detailed sketchbooks to mixed-media masterpieces, the department is alive with talent and enthusiasm.
GCSE students have been particularly focused, using their coursework to develop themes and showcase their technical progress. Meanwhile, Key Stage 3 students are getting involved in exciting competitions that extend beyond the classroom. These opportunities encourage young artists to experiment with style, technique, and subject matter, while also connecting with broader artistic communities.
A highlight of the term was the success of Amelia Riley, a remarkable Year 7 student whose artwork earned second place in the Rotary Club’s ‘Wonderful Water’ competition. Her mixed-media piece, filled with imagination and thoughtful detail, stood out among submissions from across the region. Achieving this so early in her secondary school journey is no small feat and speaks to her potential as a future artist.
Amelia’s success is just one example of the vibrant talent being nurtured within our art rooms. We extend our congratulations to her and to all students who continue to brighten the halls with their creativity and dedication. It’s clear that the future of art at The Skipton Academy is in very safe hands.
