Introducing the Autumn Edition of Inspire: Celebrating a Remarkable Term at The Skipton Academy
The Autumn Term has been an incredibly successful and inspiring start to the academic year at The Skipton Academy, and the latest edition of Inspire captures the achievements, experiences, and moments that have made it so special. This magazine brings together stories from across our school community—highlighting academic success, student leadership, enrichment, and the vibrant spirit that defines life at TSA.
From exceptional exam results to community events, memorable trips, and outstanding recognition, this edition reflects the strength, growth, and ambition of our students and staff.
The magazine opens with a warm message from Principal Mr Cook, who reflects on a term marked by record‑breaking GCSE results, a hugely successful Awards Evening, and TSA becoming the first school in Craven to achieve the Computing Quality Mark. His reflections set the tone for a publication filled with pride, progress, and optimism for the year ahead.
Throughout this edition, readers will find a rich variety of stories showcasing the breadth of opportunities offered at TSA. Our Student Leadership Team report on their first term in office, supporting key events such as the Remembrance Parade, the Christmas Dinner, and the hugely popular Year 7 and 8 Silent Disco. Their hard work and dedication embody our values of Belong, Challenge, Inspire.
Students across all year groups have embraced new experiences this term, from the exciting Year 7 trip to Nell Bank to the powerful learning opportunities during Restart a Heart Day, where more than 160 students received lifesaving CPR and defibrillator training. Further highlights include our ongoing Eco‑Schools Green Flag success, the achievements of our Hospitality & Catering students, and celebrations of individual student accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom.
The magazine also captures TSA’s commitment to broad and inclusive opportunities. Our students shone at the recent Panathlon Challenge, bringing home Gold and Silver medals, while over 120 students proudly represented the academy in this year’s Dales Cup across multiple sports. Meanwhile, preparations for the eagerly awaited school production, RSC Matilda: Change My Story, are well underway—promising an unforgettable performance in February.
As always, the term concluded with celebration assemblies recognising students’ achievement, progress, and resilience across every subject. These moments underline the hard work, determination, and growth displayed by students throughout Autumn.
This edition of Inspire is a testament to the vibrant life of our academy community. It reflects the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the invaluable support of our families, PTA, and wider community.
We are proud to share this magazine with you and invite you to explore the many stories that make this term one to remember.
We hope you enjoy reading the Autumn edition of Inspire as much as we enjoyed creating it.
