Careers Day Ignites Futures
The Skipton Academy’s annual Careers Day once again proved to be a powerful and engaging event, sparking curiosity and ambition across every year group. With a fantastic range of employers, post-16 education providers, colleges, and universities in attendance, students had the opportunity to gain insight into a wide spectrum of potential futures.
Year 7 explored the critical roles within the legal system and emergency services, developing an appreciation for the professions that help keep society safe and functioning. Year 8 tackled Enterprise Day, unleashing their creativity by working in teams to design, pitch, and plan innovative business ideas. Their entrepreneurial energy was on full display, with teamwork and communication taking centre stage.
Year 9 focused on their upcoming GCSE decisions with workshops dedicated to helping them understand subject choices and how these tie into future careers. The sessions empowered students to make confident, informed decisions about their academic and professional paths. Meanwhile, Year 10 took part in interactive sessions about money management, budgeting, and preparing for life beyond secondary school—valuable life skills that will support them for years to come.
This Careers Day was more than a one-off event—it was a vital opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and begin visualising their personal paths to success. Our heartfelt thanks go to the professionals who gave their time, shared their experiences, and helped inspire the next generation.
