Castles Come to Life

Our Year 7 students have wowed staff and classmates with their exceptional homework projects on Motte and Bailey castles. As part of their history curriculum, they were challenged to build models or create illustrated guides explaining the structure and purpose of these medieval fortifications.

The results were nothing short of extraordinary. From cardboard castles complete with drawbridges to beautifully labelled diagrams, students demonstrated creativity, historical understanding, and a real passion for the past. The attention to detail in many projects truly impressed our staff.

These projects gave students a chance to apply what they’ve learned in class in a tangible, imaginative way. It’s also boosted their confidence in presenting and explaining their ideas to others—a vital skill across all subjects.

Well done to every Year 7 student who took part. Your hard work brought history to life and made learning memorable and fun!
