Celebrating Triumphs

As the curtains draw to a close on our 2nd Challenge and Celebration Week at The Skipton Academy, we can't help but look back at the incredible moments that made this week truly unforgettable. From thrilling adventures to transformative learning experiences, this week has been a celebration of growth, resilience, and teamwork.

The numbers alone tell a tale of enthusiasm and engagement – 86 Year 7 students delving into problem-solving and team-building activities, 50 Year 8 students exploring the vibrant history and beauty of London with a dazzling West End show, and 44 Year 9 students fearlessly testing their resilience amidst the stunning lakes.

But the excitement didn't stop there. A total of 57 KS3 students took on the challenge of high ropes at Go Ape, experienced the adrenaline rush of bowling and laser tag, and revelled in the joy of our carousel of day trips.

Back at the school, the energy was palpable as 112 KS3 students embraced a wide array of activities. They unleashed their creativity by painting the sights of Skipton and crafting planters for our incredible edible garden. They also ventured into the world of parkour, and street surfing with waveboards, and mastered the art of fencing in PE. Witnessing their imaginative minds at work as they created their own board games and explored the wonders of science through DNA using Kiwis and fingerprints was truly heartwarming.

Our incredible Year 10 students shone brightly as they eagerly embraced the world of work during mock interviews with 15 employers from various industries. The feedback from these employers was overwhelmingly positive, praising our students' eloquence, thoughtfulness, and professionalism. It's no surprise that some employers have even expressed interest in offering summer jobs to our talented students.

One of the highlights of the week was the visit of Tayah Livesey, an alumna who left the school a decade ago and is now pursuing her PhD. Tayah spoke about the positive changes she witnessed and praised the exceptional qualities of our students. The employers who participated in the mock interviews also left with nothing but admiration for our school and expressed eagerness to collaborate with us again in the future.

As we bid farewell to this incredible week, we invite everyone to relive the magic and excitement by visiting our Facebook page. There, you'll find a treasure trove of pictures capturing the moments that made this week truly special.

This 2nd Challenge and Celebration Week at The Skipton Academy has been a journey of growth, learning, and joy. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated teachers, staff, students and supportive parents who made this week possible.
