Colour Run Unites School Community

In July, The Skipton Academy playing fields burst into life as the school hosted its first ever Colour Run, organised by the PTA and Friends of the Academy. What followed was a vibrant festival of colour, energy, and community spirit that exceeded all expectations.

More than 600 enthusiastic participants took on a specially designed five-kilometre course filled with challenges. This was no ordinary run - students and families scrambled under cargo nets, crawled through sand pits, and squeezed through paint crawls, all while being showered in clouds of brightly coloured powder paint.

The lively, festival-like atmosphere extended far beyond the track. Families, friends, and local residents gathered to cheer runners on and enjoy the community village. A wide range of independent stalls offered delicious food, drinks, and handcrafted goods - from artisan pizzas to homemade cakes—ensuring spectators had just as much fun as those on the course. Music, laughter, and encouragement filled the air, creating a powerful sense of togetherness and celebration.

The event was more than just fun - it was a huge success in fundraising. Thanks to the generosity of the school community and local businesses, the colour run raised over £5,500. Every penny will directly support The Skipton Academy’s mission: enhancing learning environments, expanding extracurricular opportunities, and funding vital resources to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

A PTA spokesperson reflected on the achievement:
“We are absolutely thrilled with the success of our first ever colour run. The turnout was phenomenal, the atmosphere was electric, and the generosity of our community has been truly heartwarming. This event has shown what we can achieve when we work together, and we are already looking forward to building on this success in the future.”

The Skipton Academy extends heartfelt thanks to the PTA and Friends, the dedicated volunteers, supportive local businesses, and every runner who helped make this day such a memorable milestone in the school’s history.
