Future Leaders at KPMG
Students from The Skipton Academy recently took part in KPMG's inspiring "Opening Doors to Opportunities" program, a unique initiative aimed at empowering young people by providing them with insights and skills essential for the professional world. Hosted at KPMG’s Leeds office, this event was part of KPMG’s broader commitment to creating pathways for one million young people by 2030.
The program gave The Skipton Academy students an immersive experience in a leading global organisation. Guided by experienced facilitators and KPMG professionals, the students engaged in a career-focused workshop that introduced them to real-world challenges faced by KPMG’s clients. This opportunity allowed students to explore how large organisations operate and gain exposure to various career paths.
Through hands-on activities and guided interactions with KPMG staff, the students practiced key workplace skills, including communication, creative problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership. The program was designed to not only build confidence but also provide students with a genuine understanding of the professional landscape and the skills required to thrive within it.
One of the program’s key objectives is skill development, and the students from The Skipton Academy gained valuable insights into essential transferable skills that are critical for success across different fields. In addition to core skills, students were introduced to some of the latest technologies in use at KPMG, giving them a glimpse into the innovative tools that drive modern business practices.
Throughout the event, the students from The Skipton Academy had the chance to connect with KPMG professionals, learn about various career paths, and engage in thought-provoking discussions.
