The Skipton Academy Announces Newly Elected Student Leadership Team
The Skipton Academy is proud to announce its newly elected Student Leadership Team for the 2025–26 academic year. Following a competitive application and interview process, Otis Gay and Layla Kitson have been appointed as Head Students, demonstrating exceptional leadership, commitment to the school’s ethos of Belong, Challenge, Inspire, and a passion for representing the student voice.
Supporting them will be five Deputy Head Students, each with a specific area of responsibility that reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to developing leadership, inclusion, and student participation across all aspects of academy life.

The newly formed team will work closely with staff and students to shape initiatives that enhance academy life and strengthen the sense of belonging and pride shared across the school community.
Senior Assistant Principal, Mr. Khalil, commented “We are incredibly proud of our new student leaders. They embody the values that define The Skipton Academy and will play a vital role in driving forward our commitment to student voice, inclusion and community engagement. Their ideas, energy, and sense of responsibility are truly inspiring.”
Head Student, Otis Gay, added “It’s a real privilege to represent our student body. I’m looking forward to working as a team to make a positive difference and continue building on the great work already happening across the school.”
Head Student, Layla Kitson, said “Being part of the Student Leadership Team is an exciting opportunity to bring students’ ideas to life. We want every student at The Skipton Academy to feel proud, supported and inspired.”
The team has already begun planning their first set of projects, which will be shared with the wider school community later this term.
