The Skipton Academy – Local Governing Body (LGB)
Skipton Academy is part of the Moorlands Learning Trust (MLT), a multi-academy trust. The Local Governing Body (LGB) plays a vital role in the governance of the school, operating under the wider MLT scheme of delegation. This includes supporting strategic planning, monitoring performance, and ensuring high standards of education.
Role of the LGB
The LGB meets regularly, typically twice per term, to discuss school matters via structured agendas and committee discussions. While the Headteacher manages the day-to-day running of the school, the LGB provides oversight, support, and challenge to ensure continued improvement. Governors may hold specific responsibilities as governor representatives, ensuring key areas such as safeguarding, curriculum, finance, and pupil wellbeing are monitored effectively.
