The Skipton Academy Shines at the Dales Cup Swimming Gala

Students from The Skipton Academy delivered an outstanding performance at this year’s Dales Cup Swimming Gala, hosted at Upper Wharfedale School. The event brought together talented swimmers from across the area, creating a lively and competitive atmosphere that celebrated teamwork, determination, and school spirit.

Throughout the afternoon, students participated in a wide range of races, demonstrating not only strong individual ability but also excellent collaboration in the relay events. Their hard work and commitment were evident from the outset, with many close finishes that kept the competition exciting right to the final race.

The Skipton Academy secured a brilliant second-place finish, falling short of first place by an incredibly narrow margin of just two points. This impressive result reflects the dedication of the entire team, who gave their all in every event. Staff were especially proud of those students who stepped up at short notice to compete in multiple races, showing remarkable resilience and a willingness to support their teammates.

“We couldn’t be prouder of our students,” said Miss Brown, Teacher of PE at TSA. “They showed fantastic determination, brilliant teamwork, and a real sense of pride in representing The Skipton Academy. To come so close to the overall win is a testament to their effort and attitude. A massive well done to everyone involved.”

The academy extends its thanks to Upper Wharfedale School for hosting a well-organised and enjoyable event, and to all staff and families who supported the students on the day.

Congratulations once again to all of our swimmers for their superb achievements and for showcasing the very best of The Skipton Academy’s sporting talent.
