Record-Breaking Perch Landed

Congratulations are in order for Nicholas Walker, whose recent angling achievement has made waves in the Skipton Angling Association. In what began as a brief, spontaneous canal session, Nicholas landed a remarkable perch that now holds the club record. Caught while he was pike fishing using a 10cm shad lure, this fish came in just 6 grams heavier than the previous record—making the difference all the more impressive.

Nicholas shared that while he has previously caught perch around the 2lb mark when targeting them directly, this record-breaking specimen, weighing just under 3lbs, took him completely by surprise. The spontaneity of the catch—happening during a quick 20-minute outing—only adds to the uniqueness of the achievement.

What’s particularly inspiring is that this wasn’t just a lucky catch; it was the result of Nicholas’s consistent skill, knowledge of local waters, and dedication to the sport. It’s moments like this that highlight the joy and unpredictability of angling—when preparation meets opportunity in the most exciting way.

Nicholas’s new record is not only a personal best but now an official part of the association’s history. This accomplishment will surely inspire other members of the club, young and old, to get out there and see what’s possible. Well done, Nicholas—you’ve set the bar high!
