Rising Stars in Rise

Recently, Year 8 and Year 9 students at The Skipton Academy participated in the RISE Workshop, a dynamic skills development programme that aims to uncover and enhance students’ existing strengths. Focused on core employability skills, RISE encourages young people to think critically, collaborate effectively, and build confidence in their abilities.

During the sessions, students engaged in interactive challenges aligned with their curriculum. These activities helped them explore their communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in meaningful and practical ways. By working together and reflecting on their own contributions, students discovered just how capable and resourceful they are.

One of the workshop’s standout features was the opportunity to meet professionals from leading companies including PwC, EY, KPMG, and Grant Thornton. These mentors provided an insider’s perspective on the world of work and showed how the skills students practise at school are directly transferable to real-life careers. Their stories were both relatable and inspiring.

The RISE experience left a lasting impression, with students walking away more confident about their future possibilities. They now have a stronger sense of how their efforts today can lead to exciting opportunities tomorrow. The Skipton Academy is proud to support such programmes that promote self-awareness, aspiration, and a readiness for the world beyond school.
