Sports Clubs Flourish Fast

This term has been a landmark one for Physical Education and sport at The Skipton Academy, with new clubs, events, and curriculum developments that are energising our students like never before. A standout initiative has been the launch of the Girls’ Rugby Club, giving students a supportive space to develop new skills, build strength, and foster teamwork.

Alongside this, the Running Club has quickly become a student favourite. Whether training for personal goals or simply enjoying the mental health benefits of staying active, students have embraced the inclusive, community-minded ethos of the club. It’s been especially popular for those seeking a positive and focused outlet before or after a busy school day.

The PE team has also expanded its extracurricular offerings with activities like darts and badminton, attracting enthusiastic participation across all year groups. These “alternative” sports are building valuable hand-eye coordination, patience, and strategic thinking in a relaxed, fun environment. Their growing popularity proves that sport can be for everyone, regardless of interest or ability.

On the curriculum side, Orienteering and new field events are being introduced next term, utilising the beautiful natural surroundings of the school to teach both fitness and navigation. With more opportunities than ever to get active and feel included, sport at TSA is more vibrant and inspiring than ever.
