YOUTH SPORTS TRUST: GIRLS ACTIVE
The Skipton Academy have been selected to work in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust in an exciting opportunity for primary and secondary schools to become involved in the award winning Girls Active programme.
The programme will provide virtual training for teachers, and support schools to develop a Girls Leadership and a Marketing Squad within school. Virtual leadership support and equipment will also be provided for girls in leadership roles as well as programme resources and funding to support schools.
Girls Active will help us to understand what motivates girls to take part in physical activity, develop girls as leaders and work with them to make changes to improve the PE, sport and physical activity provision in order to get more girls active.
This exciting opportunity will enable us to work together with local feeder primary schools to develop Girls Active and empower girls to influence PE, increase participation, develop role models and develop a positive transition experience to attract more 7-14 year old girls into sport.
